Beach Light

BY SAM KITTNER

Nothing like the beach-light to teach you the ever-changing nature of sunlight…how color, tone, shadow, et al changes as the sun’s apparent path moves through the sphere of the wide open sky…how the moving clouds can filter the light in dramatic and subtle ways…how the sunlight itself and the bounced light from the sand and sea paints the scene before you in the most precious and fleeting manner…and when the urge to capture and immortalize it compels you to photograph it. Seeing and observing the light in Ocracoke all these years definitely informs and helps elevate my personal and commercial photography work in an ongoing manner. So refreshing to tap into that again now in this special place where the movement of light is so apparent.
